While I worked as a journalist, we went from typewriters and hot type to computer-generated paste-up. Now journalists are digital producers. We juggle multimedia -- blogging, audio, video & print. As a kid photographer, I used a Kodak Brownie, a Polaroid, then a Nikon and a couple Olympus film cameras. Today, I use 3 Canon digital cameras for documentary work, plus a Panasoni Lumix and 2 Sony digital camcorders. At UNC-Chapel Hill I studied research methods for my PhD. All experiences underpin my teaching at Salem College, a liberal arts college for women in Winston-Salem, N.C.
